This is a short story by the author, Etgar Keret, that I'm sure many of you are familiar with. To begin with, the story is about a boy named Yonatan that goes around knocking on doors asking people one specific question with a camera pointed on there face. The question is, "If you found a talking goldfish that granted you three wishes, what would you wish for?". Yoni, the boy, is doing this for a documentary that might be worth some money. However, things don't go the way they turn out to be. Yoni one day goes out and knocks on a random door as usual, asking the question. Incidentally, Yoni get's Sergei worried thinking that he was going to steal his goldfish and ends up getting hit with a stove, falling to the floor with his skull open and the camera broken on the floor. Sergei has this magical fish that gave him three wishes but only has one and he refuses to waste it on the boy. So, he decides to dump Yonatan's body once he goes fishing. The reason why you may think, Why didn't Sergei revive him with his last wish? Because his last wish is to have the company of the magical goldfish.
My reaction towards the reading was unexpected. I never thought Yoni, the boy, would die trying to make an interesting documentary. The author's intention was to not knock on stranger's doors or go inside stranger's doors without permission. While reading the text, I noticed patterns such as cause and effect and sequential patterns. Also, you may not notice but it has spatial patterns.
